This video documents Brittany Balyn's tummy tuck recovery experience from weeks three to five. She shares the unexpected complications she faced, including issues with internal stitches and a slow-healing drain site. The video aims to provide a realistic and detailed account of the recovery process, contrasting the often idealized portrayals of plastic surgery.
Brittany experienced several complications during her tummy tuck recovery. The primary issue stemmed from internal stitches that her body rejected through the drain hole. This resulted in a drain site that wasn't healing correctly. At a follow-up appointment, her surgeon had to manually remove the internal stitches that were poking out through the drain hole. This procedure was described as painful, requiring multiple breaks due to the discomfort. She felt the experience was made worse because it was done without numbing medication. The slow healing of the drain site necessitated daily application of iodine gauze and additional gauze, followed by taping. Although the soreness subsided after three days, the healing process itself continued. Additionally, she experienced another suture coming out from inside, causing nerve pain.
